About Process

Our process for creating precious metal leafed thread leather is based on a traditional Japanese technique used in samurai armor. Urushi lacquer was used to adhere gold leaf to leather to create beautiful armor. We have worked with several traditional artisans to re-develop these techniques and materials to create platinum, gold and silver leafed woven leather textiles. In addition to beauty, they offer strength. The vertical strings and base matrix are woven with Vectran, the strongest fiber in the world. These exquisitely beautiful, yet modern, durable textiles are suitable for such luxury products as accessories, furniture and seating applications as well as architectural interiors.
